I am writing to praise one of your nurses who was in attendance when my granddaughter came into A and E a week after her birth with breathing difficulties.
This exceptional person is, I believe, a staff nurse in this department. I cannot name her because of the hospitals policy but I have written to her personally.
I first met this amazing person when she was asked to come to the waiting room by my daughter to calm down a tearful grandmother (me).
This nurse was so understanding of my emotional state and talked through the situation regarding my granddaughter in a calm, professional way which gave me total confidence. She told me what to expect with a tiny baby hooked up to tubes and wires. After I had calmed down, I was asked to join my daughter and granddaughter who was being examined and treated by several health professionals but it was this nurse who stood out as not only working so efficiently with my daughter's baby but also keeping an eye on her exhausted mother and suggesting that she needed to sit and breast feed the baby for a while.
This busy member of staff was so impressive and so informative keeping us up to date with all decisions and movements.
I was so grateful to this nurse and it has left a lasting impression on me of how wonderful a person she is and the service she provides. She definitely goes the extra mile and we cannot thank her enough.
By the way, baby, mother and grandmother are doing fine..........thank you
"Top nurse"
