My goodness, I need to express my thanks and admiration to this wonderful MK Hospital facility. My 16 yr old granddaughter has struggled this week with a sore toe, that I diagnosed (!) as infected after seeing a photograph (I’m 160 miles away). She finally agreed to go to the UTC at MK, after a day on her feet working her part time job at the city centre. She was seen by the triage nurse within 20 minutes, then shortly after went into a treatment room where the nurse told her the doctor may be able to perform the minor surgery on her nail there and then.
Both the nurse and the doctor were wonderful with my granddaughter. They were friendly, reassuring and highly professional. They must have been as this normally squeamish teenager agreed to have her nail removed there and then!
She was in and out of the treatment room in 20 minutes, the wonderful doctor/nurse team sorting her out, giving her the dressings she will need and the antibiotics prescription, bish, bash, bosh.
At a time when we have a crisis in healthcare going on, when doctors and nurses face incredible pressure at work and we have billions wasted on Brexit manoeuvres, the service the UTC gave tonight was exemplary. The doctor/nurse team went the extra mile in performing this minor surgery very skilfully and actually saved the NHS money by doing it.
Please pass on our thanks to the medical team treating her tonight, the 17th November, around 8 pm. The best thing for her, was that so promptly was she seen, treated and despatched, that she was home in time for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!
Well done to MK Urgent Treatment Centre, you’ve performed to the highest of standards tonight.
