Recently a member of family was an inpatient in CAU at Ayr hospital. I hate to say I am shocked and saddened that that when entering this department every member of staff that I saw was sitting around the station/desk on their personal mobile phones. This is very intimidating and certainly doesn’t promote the safe, caring and respectful values that NHS Ayrshire and Arran attempt to enforce. There was no greeting or word of how can I help apart from a brisk point of the finger in the direction of the requested room. This attitude appears that there is a lack of “caring” about patients and their family/friends and this is not right.
"There was no greeting"
