Went to the sexual health clinic and told them about a condition I have which means I don’t have a womb and cervix. Then thought nurse was empathetic and understanding, however then went on to ask “Can I ask you a personal question? Do you feel things when you have sex? Do you have a clitoris?” I was taken aback and answered her. Then when I left and spoke to a friend, it dawned on me how unprofessional this was. I was there for a check up and her questions were irrelevant to her practice. My condition is called MRKH and it is rare. I get that she might not have heard of it but it does not give the right for her to ask me questions of that nature when I’m there for a swab.
Just know that there is a patient sitting in front of you who deserves to be treated with dignity.
