I'd injured my foot playing tennis in May 2018 and after 3 months' improvement, healing plateaued -although I could manage with insoles, I could not at all walk barefoot. I had a couple of different medical opinions about what should be done but the surgeon's minimally invasive technique and general approach of not performing unnecessary surgery but to operate on the cause (bunion) not the symptom (suspected plantar plate tear, second toe injury) made the most sense to me.
The minimally invasive technique he has championed meant it was incredibly painfree as I only needed painkillers for the first 24 hours after the ankle block wore off. I was shocked by the size of the screws, which I'd understood just before the operation, but afterwards he said that the bone had been good enough to put only one instead of two. I followed recuperation instructions 100%, it's healing very well and I'm now back to sport at exactly 4 months post op. Fantastic.
The staff were great, (admin, based elsewhere is another matter, do check your appointment the day before!) and it all runs smoothly. The hospital looks clean as well, compared to some overwhelmed London hospitals that I've seen and everything was run on time, thank you all.
"Really glad I was referred here."
