"Very rude receptionists and poor communication"

About: Leap Valley Medical Centre

I have unfortunately had to contact this surgery quite a lot over the last few months after a loved one became ill. I called the general enquiries line 26(!) times one of the days, calls are usually met with a mixture of it either being engaged or getting through to the recorded message only for it to continuously ring with no answer, when you are lucky enough for it to finally be answered the receptionists can be quite unhelpful and abrupt, not all of them, but being spoken to while not feeling like a inconvenience to them is a rarity. Face to face with reception is no different, I always feel like I am bothering them and it is not a friendly or welcoming environment at all. Communication is not good, after my loved one was discharged from hospital they sent a letter to the surgery to ask for medications to be prescribed. I was told by one receptionist that when the medications were added to their medical records the prescription would be issued and could pick it up from the front desk, I specifically asked if I needed to put a request in the box on the wall and was told no the prescription would be issued in a few days. When I went to collect it there was nothing issued and I was told by a different receptionist that I should have put in a request! This took another few days, because of this my loved one was very close to running out of medication. I am making this anonymous because I don't feel comfortable complaining to the surgery, it will fall on deaf ears and l really don't think they care. It's a shame because the doctor and nurses are very good once you actually get to see them but the front of house staff really let them down.
