"Poor A&E experience "

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Long wait to be told even longer. Mum in extreme pain with broken hand. No analagesia offered. Rude doctor who was unhelpful when asking when mum was due to be seen. Senior nurse asked me to stop reading information leaflets as they cost the trust! Adults mixed with children which is distressing when children are unwell. Sick child’s mother told by the same doctor to move out of the corridor when she was trying to settle her sick baby in the pushchair.

No compassion, no empathy and after 3 hours to be told there could be up to a further 4 I decided to bring mum home strap her hand and offer her pain relief as I am medically trained but wanted an X-ray to confirm the break

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, I am so sorry to hear the concerns that you have raised regarding your mother. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01708 435 454 or by email bhrut.pals@nhs.net, and they will do all they can to try and help you. Unfortunately, we are unable to dermine how many patients are going to need to access our Emergency Department on any one day, sometimes this results in patients waiting longer than we would like. I am so sorry and would urge you to contact our PALS team who will do all they can to address your concerns.

Kind Regards

Bev Thomas

Divisional Director of Nursing – Acute Medicine (Emergency Care)
