"Reception staff are rude and surgery is a…"

About: Belvedere Medical Centre

This is not my first incident with this surgery. There has been so many problems throughout this whole year with me and my kids that I have given up with this surgery and will not be coming back here. I rung the doctors nearly 8 weeks ago because me and my kids were struggling to breath, bad cough and bringing up mucus. The receptionist I spoke to told me there are no appointments for at least 3 weeks and do an e consultation or go urgent care. I do an e consultation form online for all 3 of us which by the way takes forever. I get a phone call saying they book my 2 kids in but not me and send me an email how to deal with a sore throat, even when I asked me about which by the way you could tell something wad wrong because I could barely talk and they told me to go urgent care. Fine my 2 kids will be seen they are all I am worried about, I will deal with me another day. Go to the doctors and they tell me the kids are fine but if still like it another week to come back. I went urgent care for myself and they told me nothing wrong with me. 3 weeks later still the same. Ring the doctors and automatically there is no appointments for 3 weeks, are you actually looking at your screen? Told go back to urgent care. I ended up back at urgent care and turns out I had such a sever chest infection that my right lung was inflamed and had to be put on steroids and antibiotics and I am asthmatic. Booked my daughter in as she still has a bad cough 5.10pm on 4/11/2019. I arrive at 5pm and book in, the doctor I am waiting to see, her name has not come up on the screen. At 5.25pm my daughters name has come up and I walk round to be told that the person in front of me she thought had left and would it be ok to wait as she was seeing him first. In the past when my son has needed the toilet and I've said he needs a wee I've been told they can't wait for me and I will have to wait until they see the next patient. Just an absolute joke I understand people make mistakes but this is the 4th incident I've had here this year. Went for a smear test and the surgery was empty, I sat and waited half an hour and no one had called me in. Spoke to the receptionist and she said don't know why she ain't called you in sat and waited another 15 minutes, I would understand if it was busy but I was the only person there. I have actually sat and watched receptionist staff sit talking about their weekend when the phone has been ringing for 10 minutes and when they picked the phone up the person had gone. Even when my son was sick I brought him to the doctors and had to do an urine test and the receptionist told me I would get the results the same day rang twice and she said oh yeah you will get them at 6pm, 6pm came and no call. We rang back and was told that the person who done the tests had gone home. I went back the next morning to be told they lost the sample. I will be put in a complaint in because the reception staff are rude and they think they are something else.

We do apologise for your recent experience with Belvedere Medical Centre

We have attempted to search using the information given above regarding yourself and your children. We have searched for eConsults submitted but have not been able to ascertain any patients that match this criteria.

The eConsultation system has been extensively trialled and approved by the NHS as the most appropriate tool to direct patients to the correct service in relation to their condition

We would be grateful if you could call the surgery or write to the Practice Manager to make yourself known to us so that we can investigate this further.

We have checked appointment availability today (05/11/2019) and there are appointments available for next week, obviously if you requested a particular clinician or a particular time this may mean a longer wait for an appointment. Again if you make yourself known to us with further details of when you called; we can investigate appointment availability at that time in more detail.

Regarding your appointment for a cervical smear, once again if you can make yourself known to us with the date of your appointment we can investigate further

In relation to reception staff chatting I will be speaking all reception staff regarding this issue as we pride ourselves that all our staff work extremely hard

Concerning the urine test for your son I am unable to comment it is very difficult for us to answer your issues without the full details, please contact the surgery and ask to call the surgery or write to the Practice Manager who can investigate further
