"Disappointing "

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

Attended A&E due to severe pain following speaking with a 111 advisor who asked me to attend CRH within 1 hour of speaking to them. Despite the urgency expressed by the advisor on the phone (who had spoken to a clinician) I was not seen by a doctor until 4 hours later. During the time I was there the only clinical staff around was the triage nurse & the nurse taking urine samples/ecg’s. neither of them introduced themselves, and were extremely rude particularly the triage nurse, and this was the general opinion of everyone who saw them. I feel sorry for anyone who attends A&E for support around suicide or depression, as the triage nurse had a fantastic skill at making you feel like you’re a waste of space without even saying a word... toilets were disgusting, waiting room was even worse. There was a puddle of urine on the floor covered by a paper towel the whole time I was in a&e. 2 Piles of sick and rubbish everywhere with not one cleaner in sight. How do you expect people to get well when the whole area was an infestation of germs. How the cqc rated you ‘good’ is unreal. As a fellow health care professional I feel saddened and disgusted that this is the attitude of others in the health care sector, that this sort of environment is considered acceptable, and utterly disappointed that patients are treated this way. Very very poor state of affairs.
