"Great treatment but waiting room like a torture..."

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I had to go to A & E at around 6a.m. on 30th October. whilst the staff were very pleasant and reassuring I was very disappointed with the waiting room. When I arrived my temperature was 35 deg. The waiting room was bitterly cold - not suitable for sick people. Worst still, the seats were so uncomfortable and the part that protrudes into the lumbar region caused me so much pain that I was barely able to walk for the next 4 days and even on day 5 I am still suffering greatly. I can understand the seats being hard and immovable, otherwise they could be used as weapons. However I have to ask whether this lumbar support (?) could not have been made more rounded. If I have to go back I shall take a cushion and put plenty of clothes on! I would rate the waiting room experience as 0 out of 10, the treatment and staff I would rate 10 out of 10 and I am extremely grateful.

While we are very pleased that you were so happy with your treatment, we are sorry that you found the temperature and seating in the waiting room unsatisfactory. Your comments have been brought to the attention of senior managers for the department.
