My daughter of 8 and I waited 2 and a half hours for an x ray of her broken leg.
When leg was plastered the staff member doing this was practically angry w my daughter for not being able to straighten her leg. She spoke to my child as you would to an adult saying “if you don’t cooperate I can’t do my job and will go on to the next patient”. I asked for the nurse or doctor to come in and help which they did and were kind and sympathetic and w their help my daughter did get her leg straight enough to be plastered. This staff member in question needs to be trained in how to deal with children and to be sympathetic to an 8 year old w a broken leg who has had to wait nearly 5 hours at a and e in total. This was nearly midnight and my daughter was exhausted and in pain. Not happy with this team member on shift at 23h00 - 23h00 27/10/19.
We were not given an information sheet or discharge summary with medications to take how to keep leg elevated, whether to exercise, keeping leg dry etc etc. I complained the next day and the doctor I spoke to agreed this was not right and she had not followed procedure. As a result my daughter had not been keeping her leg elevated correctly. Really RUH!! You can do a lot better. More professionalism please.
