"Nearly left without medication"

About: Leigh View Medical Practice

I put a prescription in early to make sure I recieved the medication 7 days later my wife went to pick it up was told the prescription had not been allowed because it was early I asked why no one had told me no feedback it was friday I had to then chase for an emergency prescription the practise dragged this out I told them no one has informed me my prescription had been declined for been early the receptionist suggested I could buy my prescription painkillers anywhere. I wanted to complain and then given the runaround my wife went for prescription 5 pm friday no apology my wife spoke to practise manager who fobbed her of saying my painkillers that I need and have taken for 17 years would be left to emergency doctor to to see if I needed them or I could wait my wife asked about a complaint the practise manager said i would be phoned by complaint manager by tuesday that has now gone fobbed of i am very appalled at the practise lack of concern that after they declinied my prescription 7 days ago they could not be bothered to tell me if my wife went on Saturday i would have been left with no medication and the receptionist inappropriately comment on purchasing tablets a disgrace normally this practise are very competent i have been let down and ignored and given the runaround very incompetent no one told me I had to put my prescription in again to make it sure I got it they just left me what did they think was going to happen?they dont seem bothered at all I could have been left in pain without tablets and entirely there fault

It is disappointing that you have felt the need to post your complaint via this media even thou we have written to you and explained the practice policy for patients who place their prescription requests in early and that we would be looking to change the policy. The policy has been changed so that as well as adding a note to your prescription to say it was placed in early a message will be sent to your mobile informing you that there is a problem.

Your prescription was issued on that day and you were not left without any medication. The letter we sent also apologised for the inconvenience and enclosed was the surgeries complaints processes. Thank you for saying that normally we are very competent but I do disagree with the comment that you felt that we didn't seem bothered and that it was entirely our fault.
