"Kind and caring support"

About: One Recovery Bucks / High Wycombe

(as a service user),

I was stressed and feeling down and a little bit scared when i started to attend the AA sessions.  I was drinking quite a lot and spiralling out of control.  I found the sessions and the strategies within very helpful.

I don't feel anything could have been better as the woman who ran the session was really straight and honest with me and she told it as it is - this helps me.  Speaking with her I got a really big wake up call, she was in tune with what I needed to hear to help me through this time.  I wanted to give a big thank you to this service, it has helped me a great deal.  At a particularly, low time for me dealing with my addiction as well as my benefit allowances and finances this lady was kind enough to help me sort of the universal credit, pointed me in the right direction, gave advice and support and generally showed me kindness and care.  Big big thank you!

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback with us via Care Opinion.

It is really lovely to hear how you overcame your initial feelings about accessing the service, especially when you felt your life was spiralling out of control. I am so glad you braved making that first step into service.

It is great you connected with your key-worker providing the alcohol Awareness sessions, we feel it is really paramount that all our staff are trained in motivational interviewing techniques so they can have honest discussions like this with service users. This allows service users to make their own choices and see their own consequences about their use. Sometimes this can be really hard to hear but it does help to motivate people to make changes they need to.

I am really glad to hear that you were also supported around your benefits / universal credit, we know how much of an impact these changes can have on peoples lives. What is so great is that you felt our worker showed kindness and care, and its our values like these that are really important to us.

Can I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best with your recovery journey in the future and thanks again for your very meaningful and valuable feedback.

Regards

Tracy
