"Knee replacement on Great Tey ward"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had a knee replacement on Great Tey ward. When it was time to be discharged there was no set up for me until I complained that I lived alone, am 75 years old and live upstairs, a staff member on the ward claimed I was independent but eventually they sorted some care, of whom were totally useless turned up at 11-30 to get my breakfast, got tired of waiting so did it myself, when it was time for me to be discharged from the ward I had no transport home. I asked if this could be arranged, they said no transport available, so I was put in a taxi with a driver who did not even get out the car to help put my bags in. The nursed asked if they could take my 3 bags upstairs when we reached my home, - reply was "I do not do stairs". Will hopefully never have to go into this hospital again especially this ward.
