"Absolutely disgusting, worst appointment"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

I attended an appointment recently due to experiencing severe pain for a number of years and suspecting endometriosis.

The consultant I saw however had decided there was nothing wrong with me before I entered the room. She had no interest in any of my symptoms, where my pain was, how it felt etc. And during the examination due to pain i was very tense, and she caused me a lot of pain when 'moving my cervix'. She then said that she was unable to perform a proper examination as 'i wouldnt let her' and proceeded to tell me my pain was psychological despite the fact I was sat sobbing IN PAIN.

However, even though she didnt think my pain was real, she proceeded to offer me chemical menopause or surgical investigation. But told me if i had the surgery there was a risk of 'cutting my bowel, so id then need to poo into a bag and have a scar the length of my stomach'... her words not mine! I've had major surgery in the past but not once have I been scared out of having something done by a 'professional'.

She also revealed that 50% of her patients sent for the surgery are not diagnosed and she tells them to 'live with it!' I left the appointment in a lot of pain and absolutely disgusted by how id been treated and how she must treat other women.

I want the surgery doing, but now I will have to find another way around it as I refuse to see consultant again and would rather be in the safe hands of a specialist rather than somebody who pretends she knows about endometriosis.
