"Colonoscopy, Scoping suite, Good Hope"

About: Good Hope Hospital

(as the patient),

On the 10/09/19 I had an appointment to have a colonoscopy to investigate whether or not there where any problems in my bowel, as I'd had an abnormal test result.

The reason I'm writing this letter is because I want everyone to know just how amazing all the staff were in the unit. From beginning to the end, every single nurse was so lovely and caring. I'm sure everyone of us could say how we can all get quite embarrassed about that part of our bodies being on show. But it was it handled with dignity and humour, especially with the dignity/modesty pants?!!! These really made me laugh, along with the lovely nurse who gave them to me and had to explain what they where for!! Even though this was a very hard day for me, you all really helped, and I want to thank you all from the bottom(ha,ha!)of my heart.

Thankfully, everything was clear and normal, but it was worth going through this for my peace of mind, as I have had bowel problems for a long time.

So, I would say to anyone who has to go through this, be assured, you will be well looked after.

Dear 1826

We are delighted to hear about the excellent care and treatment you received; particularly the way the staff made you feel ease and respected your dignity and modesty during the examination. Your kind words have been forwarded to the senior staff responsible for the department so they can share them with their team members. Feedback like this is greatly valued as staff love to hear they have made such a positive difference.

Kind regards

Patient Experience Team
