A diagnoses of throat cancer was the day my worst nightmare become a reality and my first visit to the 'head and neck' clinic was one of fear and trepidation. This was soon changed to optimism and hope for a positive outcome after meeting the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT). They explained every step of the journey through this nightmare and how they would be there to support me both physically and mentally, ensuring my needs are met and questions answered. They have more than delivered on that promise and continue to do so. I am so grateful to everyone I have encountered, from the MDT team at Sunderland to the staff at Freeman hospital where radiotherapy was given, as well as the staff of ward C33 for their dedication, care, good humour and support. I still have a little way to go but I will get there with the help and continued support of the amazing people of Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and their colleagues at Freeman.
"From pessimism to optimism thanks to amazing…"
