"I visited my friend on the geriatric ward"

About: Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / Geriatric Assessment

(as a friend),

when I visited my friend of 40 years on the geriatric ward I was appalled at the  attitude of the charge nurse saying that I was encourage her to escape the ward. This is not the case.

My friend wants back to her home, she has lost her Independence. She can't leave the ward when she wants, this is what is upsetting her,  and I find it very rude that the nurses are accusing me of upsetting her. I have visited many geriatric wards over the years across different boards l and have always received a warm welcome so this attitude came as a shock to me I would be grateful if someone could look in to my concern's.

Dear Pepe

Thank you for your post on Care Opinion.

I am disappointed to read about your experience at Gartnavel General Hospital and would like to apologise for the way this made you feel. All our patients and visitors should be treated with dignity and respect.

I have spoken with the Associate Chief Nurse responsible for Gartnavel General Hospital and we would be grateful to be given the opportunity to look into your concerns. I would be grateful if you could email me at Nicole.McInally@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Kind Regards

Nicole
