"To all those who helped make my journey a very special one"

For my age (79) I believed I was fit and well, I eat healthily, not over weight, keep active do aqua twice a week regularly out on my bike riding a combination of tracks & roads, often exceeding 25 mile with a group on a Friday with no visible symptoms of any kind, how wrong I? I visited my doctors in Market Rasen for a routine blood test when thanks to the observation of the young healthcare assistant Chelsea who noticed a possible symptom in my urine and subsequently the diligence of Dr  Hooton the instigation of a journey was put into place, resulting in a very successful Radical Nephrectomy Laparoscopic Procedure taking place at Lincoln County Hospital in August 2019.

 

Everything was carried out on time, communications have been excellent, my operation was of the highest standard and the care I have received was second to none. Prior to and following the operation the whole experience has been absolutely seamless, from my first visit to my doctors to being discharged from Lincoln hospital and beyond.

 

I was certainly looked after by many safe pair of hands, especially so by Mr Mark  and his team, I greatly appreciate the outstanding level of care that I have received throughout including my stay in Hatton Ward and the day to day support and guidance freely given to me by Clinical Nurse Specialist Ellis.

 

 

In conclusion I still cannot believe how fortunate I have been, since leaving hospital (only three days after my operation) it is still difficult for me to understand why I have been completely free of pain or how quickly I was back to normal and back out on my bike.

My most grateful thanks go to everyone involved, many of whom I will not know, my own surgery in Market Rasen, hospitals in Lincoln and Louth and all those who helped make my journey a very special one and above all have given me the chance to have a much brighter and hopefully healthier future.
