I had Hernia Surgery in Aug 2019. I waited 12 months for elective surgery. Post surgery I was in recovery for hours whilst waiting for a bed on Ward 20.Once transferred to the ward it was apparent how chaotic care services are within the LRI. Variations in the Nursing care depending on who was leading the team became obvious. Not that the Nursing team seemed under staffed - just not managed.I was in the hospital 5 days then discharged home. The following week I was readmitted through the Surgery Triage Assessment unit having been sent by my GP Surgery. Again admitted, this time to Ward 11. Chaotic care continued for the next 3 days, culminating with a Ward visit by a huge contingent of Doctors who proceeded to discuss "my treatment, results etc". Unfortunately, they had the wrong patient.Although my name was above the bed, they clearly didn't look!! and I corrected them when addressed by the wrong name. Discharged and sort the care of my GP Surgery which has required visits on alternate days to sort out the wound problems with dressings and silver nitrate. I was assured that a follow up appointment in about 8 weeks would follow. Don't anticipating this happening, and not sure I would want it anyway. No! I would not recommend this hospital at all.
