I got a letter saying I was referred to a neurosurgeon without being told why. So I called my GP practice to shed some light. The receptionist could not have been more dismissive, blase and borderline rude. I shouldn't have had to, but I even reminded her this is a very anxious and distressing time for me in an attempt to get her to mind how she was talking to me. "Yep, no problem." She said, continued with her tone and then laughed because she took my date of birth down twice. Absolutely appalling. I'm not allowed to name her on here, but it happened ten minutes ago, I hope she reads this and is sent for training in empathy and manners. She is absolutely terrible and very sick patients with life threatening conditions should not have to deal with speaking to her until she is taught how to interact with compassion and understanding. Really upsetting experience while I wait for a GP call back to tell me what is going on with my health.
"Great GP, appalling reception staff"
