Hi, after visiting this department on 24/9 my specialist gave me a form to hand in for a follow up appointment in 4 weeks. On the basis that I would be back at the hospital in 4 weeks, he gave me prescriptions for all my new drugs with a 4 week supply. My letter has arrived today and my follow up appointment has been booked for 10 December!! a total of 11 weeks from 24/9. Whilst I completely understand the pressures on appointments and I'm not complaining about that as such, what I am unhappy about is that I now have to chase around to try and get more prescriptions to put me on for the extra 7 weeks. Obviously my specialists conception that I could get another appointment within 4 weeks is completely unrealistic, why on earth can't specialists be updated daily or weekly on current waiting times for appointments so that they can then prescribe supplies of drugs accurately and give patients realistic timescales. Surely this would be beneficial for all concerned?
