"Treatment"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General surgery (Wards 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d)

(as the patient),

Was referred by my gp to attend the assessment centre due to the ongoing pain I have been receiving on my lower right hand side bottom - possible grumbling appendix. I was seen by surgical team who admitted me to ward 9b after seeing so many doctors and tests and being sent for an mri scan, to be told you have a serious lung infection and phenomena we will give u antibiotics. still got pain on my lower right hand side and abdomen 24 hours later, still in pain.

I was told today that I have to be discharged cause there is nothing more the surgical team can do for me been after waiting 4 hours for my medication, to Come home and realise no antibiotics and to read my discharge paper which is completely inaccurate and still in pain. no antibiotics for the lung and pneumonia that was picked up by an mri scan 23 hours ago as now.

Completely disappeared to phone the Dr to be told they's didn't mean to say what they did but its OK to discharge someone from hospital after being on oral morphine and pain Killers for the pain right up until 3 hours before they discharge you, and no further forward in relation to route cause to be told theres nothing surgical can do and we need the  to bed so go home and go to your GP who will refer you.  Bearing in mind I was admitted 6 months prior to this for same symptoms to be told by 6 different consultants 6 different things, what do you need to do?

Also been told If I Continue to take the painkillers that has been prescribed I will be in hospital for different reason what does someone have to do to get an issue resolved does no one communicates with each other, not my department so went home. absolutely shocking attitude to have while I sit here in agony typing this how many more people have experienced this attitude and response

Dear Bs123

I am so very sorry to hear of the difficulties that you recently endured during your recent admission. I shall contact my colleagues at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and ask them to look into your case. If you could contact me at sheila.dickson@ggc.scot.nhs.uk to give some details for this to be done.

In the meantime I do hope that your pain has settled.

Kind regards

Sheila
