About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Orthopaedics (Wards 10a, 10b, 10c &10d)

(as a service user),

I've waited 13 weeks out of a potential 23-26 week wait for Orthopaedics.

The pain in my shoulder keeps me awake every night, I can't live my life properly.  I am willing to sit and wait at every clinic to see if someone doesn't turn up so that I can be seen.  I've asked the co-ordinator to place me on the short notice cancellation waiting list, can I check how far up that list I am?

I've seen my GP and am on maximum pain relief.

Is there anything else I can do to help myself during this waiting time?

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. I am so sorry to hear that you are experiencing shoulder pain which is disrupting your sleep.

Regrettably our Orthopaedic Department has been experiencing extended waiting times There are a number of factors which are impacting on our ability to meet the national waiting times guarantee. We would wish to assure you that we are making every effort to reduce the waiting times for our patients and improve the service that we provide.

In the interim can I suggest that you make a further appointment with your GP regarding your pain relief. He may be able to change your medications to another pain relief tablet. I do hope that the co-ordinator shall be in touch soon in the meantime your GP should be able to provide further clinical update to your consultant.

I have shared your feedback with the Management Team responsible for Orthopaedics.
