I stepped off a chair and felt a pop in my calf and pain. A couple of days later I went to minor injuries at the New Victoria Hospital. I was told I had torn my calf muscle, was given a couple of support bandages and a pair of crutches and told it would heal on its own in a few weeks. Five weeks later I was told by a friend that I really should go and see a physiotherapist. I had self referred to the NHS but had heard nothing so had to go privately. She said the hospital should have told me to only use the crutches for a couple of days, a week at maximum and that my muscle had healed too short. I now need physio to get it back to normal.
