"Made a horrible scary time in hospital a less scary"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as the patient),

My ladders collapsed when I stood on the top step to come down from the loft .

I went to A&E Hairmyres waited over an hour before getting took into another waiting room and waiting nearly another hour then took to X-ray

I was terrified and in pain I had been given co-codomol for pain relief earlier.

I had had a nasty brake and will need an operation.  the nurse who was with me when I was getting my cast on had blonde hair she was Irish I think she was so caring and I would like to thank her for her kindness the doctor was kind also.

When I was took to ward 5 at 7pm that night the nurse was called Lesley she was so kind she was rushed off her feet but was so caring to all the women of ward 5. Thank you Lesley for caring you are an asset to the nursing profession.  also the next day I got my operation and got a plate and pins in my ankle. When I got back to ward 5 a nurse called Margaret  was another brilliant caring nurse looking after us in ward 5. Staff like that are worth their weight in gold, thank you.

I met an amazing bunch of ladies there.  we had a brilliant laugh that night having a sing song even though all the pain we were suffering and most of us just out surgery we joined together that night and had a great wee night, even some nurses   came and joined in our singing  while they worked. I would like to thank you ladies for making a horrible scary time in hospital a less scary time.

To the ladies. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I can’t thank the nursing staff enough they were so pleasant and hard working always run off their feet x We need more money to get more nurses on the hospital floor x

Thank you to the surgeons who do these amazing jobs to help us back on our feet 👏👏👏👏👏

Thank you so much for caring

Well done Hairmyres 👏

I will be back for my stitches out and physio, fingers crossed I have a speedy recovery.

Dear Fall from loft

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience in ED after falling from your loft. It must have been very painful and indeed frightening. I am therefore sorry to read that you waited sometime to be seen whilst in pain.

I am glad to hear that you felt staff were caring and professional. The singing sounds like it helped a few of you in difficult circumstances and it is lovely to read your comments of how nursing staff joined you. I am picturing the scene as I write to you!

I will pass on your comments to the individual staff mentioned as well as the wider team. I do hope that you continue to make a good recovery. Thank you again for your positive feedback. It is appreciated and staff will be delighted to read your review.

Best wishes and a speedy recovery

Lise

Dear Fall from Loft,

Thank you for your recent post on Patient Care Opinion. I am delighted you had a very positive experience in Ward 5, after having such an accident falling from your loft.

I will pass on your comments in your post to all of the nursing staff in Ward 5. The staff strive to deliver the best person centred care to their patients. It sounds like you had lovely company in your room in the Ward. The singing sounds like it was good therapy whilst recovering.

Thank you once more, hope you are recovering well.

Best Wishes,

Karen
