"Total lack of communication"

About: Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency

Attended Queens twice recently, first with my 74 year old disabled husband. I get staff are overworked but find the way you are left sitting about totally uninformed as to what happens next very frustrating. When you do ask there is no clarity in the explanation you get . Tonight I accompanied my daughter I met her there as she went by ambulance. The receptionist was frosty to say the least and she called me to her window. When I got there she promptly started inputting another patients details into system and totally ignored me. Eventually she checked and said you’ve got here before her, stand there until she comes in. Transferred to majors lite which was overcrowded with no spare seats. After two hours blood and ecg done I had to ask on two occasions how long it would be. First time I was told one person in front, five people went in so I queried again only to be told it’s still one in front. Querying why five people had gone in I was told it was different queues.

Why not put a poster up explaining this, it avoids all frustration.

The staff have to deal with some awful things and rude people but if patients and relatives are kept informed and are aware of hospital procedures things could be better.
