"Ear Nose Throat=Disorganised chaos"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

So three week ago 17/09/ I arrived for an operation on my nose a polopectomy. To be told that the consoltant I thought was going to be doing the operation is not the one I had seen. However this guy seems to be highly qualified. The operation goes well and no camplications.

So after is when it starts to go wrong it seems that whomever organises appointment is unable to read very well I get a letter from the ent department to visit a consultant at 2.30 03/10 when I arrived and the consultant said why are you here I said somebody sent me a txt for this appointment. He said that I was not his patient and I was supposed to have a appointment 2months after the operation not 2 weeks. To see the guy who done the operation. So he said go and book at the desk for 6 weeks time. Arriving at the desk to be told January is the soonest appointment. I said to the young lady but the surgeon said 2months after the surgery he wanted to see me. So three month is not in the time frame. She seems to ignore me and said you might be able to see some one else. But the surgeon said that it is important

That he see the result. The young lady was point blank rude a was obviously not interested in solving the problem. So I am hoping that I have no complications while I wait for ENT to decide if the patient is allowed to see the surgeon at his request not mine in the time specified. Dont make appointment if you can't keep them it doesn't just cost the NHS money but could cost a life through negligence. Wake QA Manegement it's a shambles. Hardly a surprise you were placed on special measures..

I am sorry to hear that you attended an appointment yesterday that had been rescheduled without your knowledge and you still received a text reminder for this appointment. I am also sorry to hear about your experience at the reception, this is certainly not the way we expect our patients to be treated.

We will be happy to look into this for you if you wish, please contact us on 0800 917 6039 or by e-mail PHT.PALS@porthosp.nhs.uk and the Team will assist you.

Kind Regards,

Lisete
