We have had 2 children in the last 3 years and shortly after the birth of our first child the service changed to the new 0-19 service. It's been so different compared to how it was before, we had much more information about when the health visitor would come to see us and who would be coming.
We've been using the new website which is really helpful to find information and you know it's NHS approved, plus if you have a question you can just chat to someone online.
The best part of the service has been the 1 and 2 year checks which we were lucky to have with Athena from the service both times. She was great with our daughter at getting her to interact and feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings (at the Barnard Clinic). She gave us loads of advice on some really basic things which we had never considered before and actually when we discussed them we realised we could be doing them better. This wasn't done in a judging or stern way but helped us along into thinking of new ideas about how we could improve meal times, toileting and other things our daughter was struggling with at the time.
"I can't believe how much better the service is"
