Having had a slightly dodgy smear test result I was invited to make an appointment at the Women's Day Assessment unit for a diagnostic procedure called a Colposcopy. Whilst not the most pleasant procedure (it's not sore so if you get asked to go for one do it!) I was really moved by the compassion and care shown by the nurses.
Nurse, Julie, who was actually doing the test was fantastic at explaining exactly what was going to happen and why. It really was incredibly reassuring the way she went through everything and how she took her time to really make me feel at ease. The other two nurses who came in to support were truly wonderful. Having someone, literally, holding my hand and chatting to distract me was helpful and calming in a way I never would have though I needed, so thank you so much. I am relatively independent person and I would have been fine without the warmth and compassion shown by these professionals but it made the whole experience a positive one rather than something I just had to 'endure'
Thank you again!
"Wonderful staff and fantastic overall experience"
