What a wonderful centre this is. Two years ago I had a 'lump' found during a mammogram. It turned out to be calcification, I had the 'lump' flagged so that professionals would be aware of it in the future. The staff were all brilliant. At the beginning of May I had a call to have another mammogram, I trotted along, mentioned the 'flag' to the staff, which they were aware of. A couple of days later I received a recall letter. I went along feeling pretty smug 'knowing' it would calcification again. The staff were wonderful and explained what the next procedure would be. Unfortunately this time I was wrong it wasn't calcification it was in fact ductal cancer. I won't bore you, or frighten you, because every case is different but what I would like to say is if you are unfortunate enough to suffer from this illness, you can be in no better hands than the staff of this wonderful, wonderful centre. The doctor asked me how I felt when she told me, I smiled and said 'blessed'. She and the nurse looked surprised by this response. I explained that if it had been diagnosed 30 or so years ago it would probably have been at best a mastectomy at worst, well I think we all know what that would have been! Just be thankful that we have this great unit in our area. Thank you all you are truly a blessing to have in our district.
