In September I attended the ED at the Borders General Hospital with chest pain. The excellent nursing and medical staff saw me immediately, treating me with great kindness and quickly diagnosed that I had sustained a small heart attack. I was admitted to Ward 6 where, throughout my stay, all staff gave excellent care. When I was seen by members of the cardiology team my planned future management was explained fully and clearly and when I had to be transferred to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh the ambulance paramedics and staff nurse from ward 5 could not have been kinder in the professional care provided. All staff, whether doctors, nurses, health care assistants, porters, paramedics were genuinely caring at all times.
