"Pre-assessment"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology (Stomach and Gut)

(as a carer),

My wife was diagnosed with Dementia earlier this year and then not long afterward Bowel Cancer.

She has been through all the preliminary tests/scans and had to go for a Pre-assessment for the operation to remove the tumor.

The nurses at ARI couldn't have been more helpful or caring, taking the time to make sure my wife understood what they were doing and why.

My wife understands what is wrong with her and just needs people to reassure her and make her feel safe, they did. I doesn't take away the fear that she has but she trusts the nurses.

Dear "Budgie56"

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the care given to your wife recently. I understand this would be a difficult time for both your wife and yourself and I am glad that the care your wife received went some way to making the experience easier for you both and allowed your wife to put her trust in the nurses. I'm glad that you found the nurses to be both helpful and caring and explained what they were doing any why. I will pass your comments on to the team who will be encouraged to hear such positive feedback.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish your wife well with her upcoming surgery and thank you once again for taking the time to provide feedback, it's much appreciated.

Kind regards,

SCN Eleanor Gray.
