We visited on Friday 27th September due to our 7 year old son having had a bad fall at school. He had fallen on his head and had a severe cut just under his hairline. The school wrapped his head and then we headed to the walk in. Upon arrival we were made aware there could be up to a three hour wait, we decided this was ok and checked in. We were seen after around 40 minutes for an observation and were shocked to only be asked two questions and for them not to even check his wound. My son had blood over his school shirt so you could see was injured, although well in himself i explained the seriousness of the cut. We were then told to go back out to the waiting room, we proceeded to wait another 3 hours until called through. When the nurse took the bandage off she was shocked and didn't understand why he wasn't moved through quicker. Once cleaned up they decided glue would be ok as my son was very distressed at the thought of stitches, The nurse showed no bedside manner as said on numerous occasions in an annoyed tone 'I am not near the cut' when he showed he was worried and in pain. She then proceeded to glue her glove to his head and pulled some hair out and laughed at this.
Such a shame as visited before as have other friends and family and always received excellent service. People must remember a child does not cover fear like an adult and when they show fear staff should be able to put them at ease and not get angry.
