I fell down a step in mid Sept and was taken by ambulance (after a long wait) to Wigan RAE A & E where an X-ray showed that the neck of the femur on my right leg had been fractured. I had also injured my wrist but not seriously. I was then taken to Aspull Ward to be looked after by the wonderful nurses and other staff there to await an operation to insert a rod and pin in my hip which was successfully performed a few days later.
A week later I was discharged and taken home. I am writing this story because I want to express my heartfelt thanks and admiration to the surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, carers, catering staff and everyone else who helped me during my stay in the Infirmary with their kindness and skills. I will never forget the excellent care and efficiency of all those involved in looking after me in the Aspull Ward at Wigan Royal Edward Infirmary.
