"They should take heed of a patient/carers wishes"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / X-rays and Scans

(as a service user),

I recently attended the xray department for an xray of my hip and knee.

My mobility at the moment is very poor due to severe OA and on top of this I have Parkinsons Disease.

My daughter who looks after me attended xray with me but staff declined her offer to assist me stating they would help, in the room i again said that my daughter would be better helping me. As the staff did not know my capabilities or indeed lack of them their handling caused me great discomfort, I was still in pain 2 days later.

Whilst I understand this was unintentional on the staffs part, I do think they should take heed of a patient/carers wishes ans what works best for them.

Dear mrsb884

I am sorry that your experience in X Ray was not what you expected, but I hope you can understand that Radiology Staff work under strict radiation safety guidelines which limits who can enter an X ray room.

Please be assured all staff have been trained in the safe handling and movement of patients who require assistance but we will certainly take on board your comments in order to improve patient experience

Kind Regards

Claire
