"Due to lots of staff changes it can be difficult"

About: Rampton Hospital / Personality Disorder Pathway

(as the patient),

I am on Eden Ward. I have my ward round every 6 weeks, not all the time do I feel included. To improve this listen / hear what I am saying and try to understand what I am saying.. Feeling safe, No! When we do have enough staff they are quickly moved to other areas. Get more staff or make sure they remain on our wards.

When my Father passed away last Year I did feel cared for. To improve the caring side of things, due to lots of staff changes it can be difficult to have a good Theraputic relationship with the care team. Waiting for a date to get married, the date keeps being changed and this is frustrating.. Feeling that I am heard … I have to raise my voice to feel I have been heard but then I can get in trouble. Please to improve.. Take time and sit and listen to what we are saying. At times there is a sense of community but this does change. To improve.. Get everyone involved with changes that are made. Get everyone with community type activities and have a laugh sometimes

Thank you for taking the time to feedback.

I do appreciate that changes within the daily staffing establishment can be frustrating. Within the Care Stream, we do meet with all Ward Managers at 09.00 hours to look at the clinical need across the service. This does sometimes mean that there are changes to meet clinical need, however we do endevour to keep the skill mix right and ensure that there are enough staff from within the ward team to support you on a daily basis.

I like your initiative of getting everyone involved. Perhaps you could take that idea to your ward community meeting?

Kind regards

Kerry

Thanks for this posting. I am sorry to be so late with this comment. Kerry has explained how we manage the staffing situation. As she also says, encouraging everyone to get involved is really worth taking forward in the ward community meeting.

Best wishes.

Peter
