After injury - taken to A&E by friend , Dripped blood for a time until receptionist understood that I did not have a simple cut . Triage nurse came urgently . All necessary dressings etc and injections given . things slow - place busy.
There for 8 hours .
Staff seemed unsure about whether to admit and treat .
Finally decided to send me home and refer me elsewhere (seemed strange but presume good reason as minor operation to repair or amputate affected end of finger.
Impressed that friendly doctor took time to ring me at home to offer me appointment at Birmingham University Hospital at 6.00 am next morning but not so the time as unable to get there as unable to drive due to injury and no public transport at that hour
Finally treated at
Stoke Hospital next day - hand operated on at 8.00 pm . Now discharged .
Cannot fault the caring staff but something out of kilter .
Not the shambles of last time but something still glaringly wrong .
Should have visited Stoke and cut out the middleman..
Stoke nurses rather incredulous regarding this saga when related for paperwork.
Staff did their best .. but??????????
.
"partly severed middle finger of left hand"
