"Atrocious mental health nurse"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Absolutely frustrated and feel so very let down by mental health liaison (mental health nurse) who saw me for a 10 minute assessment in my time of need. Couldn't wait to get me out the door and on my way. Shame on you. Approaching a crisis meant I got sent by a senior GP to A&E, threatened with police if I left. Mental health nurses attitude I'm so angry with. You simply don't treat someone in a position of being vulnerable and who's got Autism with such a lack of respect. No mental health doctor off any kind at Eastbourne DGH at all, which is crazy.

Saw a mental health nurse at CMHT urgently, as had no where else to turn and a consultant and they treated me with the utmost respect and integrity. But will be taking things further about my treatment, I'm very angry.

Dear Jacob,

Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback about your concerns with the experience of care you had from a Mental Health Nurse who attended to you in the Emergency Department at Eastbourne District General Hospital. We are very sorry to read of the frustration and dissatisfaction this experience left you with.

As a general hospital, we do not provide mental health services. Locally, this is provided by the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT), who our staff will contact if there is a clinical need to assess mental health concerns by appropriately trained and experienced professionals. If you would like to pursue a concern with the standard of care you received from the Mental Health Nurse who assessed you and have not already done so, you can contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at SPFT on 0300 304 2198 or by email at pals@sussexpartnership.nhs.uk

We very much hope this information helps, and that you may be feeling better now in your mental and health. It is important that you continue to receive the care and treatment you require from appropriate healthcare professionals that help and support you to live a comfortable and happy life, and ensure you are always treated with dignity and respect. Please be assured that should you require care and treatment for your physical health by any of the services provided by our Trust, you will always be afforded our values of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect.

Please take care and keep safe Jacob.
