"Thank you!"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I had a Pyogenic Granuloma due to pregnancy. Over the weekend it had got really bad and kept opening, bleeding and getting bigger. I went to a different hospital A and E on Saturday and left after 5 hours feeling totally ignored and very upset.

I called Eastbourne Maxillofacial on Monday as I did not trust that the referral had been made (I don’t think it was), they took the detailed then called back for me to come to clinic the next day.

Went in Tuesday morning at 9.15 preparing to wait for hours to be seen and for a fight to get it removed. Seen straight away.

The lovely Dr knew exactly what I had, how to treat it, how upsetting it is etc. I was taken straight in to have it removed. The Surgury was clear, everything explained, lovely staff making me feel safe and supported. So grateful it has been dealt with as baby due in 4 weeks and I was terrified I would still be dealing with it then.

Thank you to all the lovely team that helped me.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such lovely feedback about the care and treatment you received from the Oral and Maxillofacial Team at Eastbourne District General Hospital; we really appreciate it.

The Trust works hard to provide all patients with a high standard of care and treatment, and so we are delighted to read this was the experience you had – and even more so given the very disappointing standard of care you report having when attending the Emergency Department at another hospital. We want all of our patients to be treated with the values of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect, and it is therefore very reassuring for us to read that all the staff you came into contact with upheld these values and made you feel safe and supported. This would have undoubtedly been a source of great comfort to you, and a relief with the imminent arrival of your baby in the next few weeks.

We will ensure your kind words are shared with the senior clinical and management team responsible for the Oral and Maxillofacial Team, as they will want to read how much you appreciated the care they gave you.

We hope you are keeping well, and looking forward to the birth of your baby. We wish you all the very best for good health in the future, and that of your imminent bundle of joy!
