"Restrictions on the ward"

About: Rampton Hospital / Mental Health Service

(as the patient),

It is safe here on this ward and we are told both Canterbury and Cambridge wards are part of the moving on wards. If that is right I feel you should rethink the restrictions on the ward, if we are preparing to move to medium secure at some point could the rules be similar to that. Do we need night time confinement if preparing to move on… more ground access, more fresh air… the Staff do what they can but changing the way we all work together might be helpful in the moving on part. Transitions can be difficult for Patients so hope this kind of thing could be done in some way.

Hi, Thank you for your opinion,

I totally agree that those wards need to review thier philosophy to embed the changes that you are required to meet for an MSU.
Canterbury is closing so this will give Cambridge ward manager the opportunity to look at this as she has recently moved from a ward that she managed with a similar philosophy and has lots of expericne doing this.
Night confinement has been dicussed and reviewed for some of the wards but we are at ealry days of this review.

Thank you

Thanks for this posting. As Adele says, you make a good point about the approach taken on those wards. The planned closure provides an opportunity to look again at the way Cambridge operates.

Best wishes.

Peter
