About: Rampton Hospital / Mental Health Service

(as the patient),

I am on Canterbury Ward. Night time confinement helps me feel safe on the ward. You could improve by getting more groups working on the Ward. Only 3 staff sometimes can lead to unpredictability I guess. Having the right meds is effective and the team could improve things for us by allowing group access to instruments, maintain what we have but more flexible to music. The Staff are caring and do a good job but keep the same rules and access to the Toaster in the dining room would be good. Don’t merge this ward downstairs. You could improve our community by having more fresh air and ground access and review our staff who keep getting called away.

I am pleased you feel safe and feel cared for. You can have access to group music but this needs approval whoch can be obtain via you ward manager and security managers.


We have to closed one of the wards butthis will be done slowly and you will be as involved as you want to be.

Thanks for this posting and for the postive things you say about Canterbury. As Adele says, we have to close one ward but we will do this carefully. I was interested by what you say about night confinement, given the controversy that is sometimes associated with that.
