"Amazing staff"

About: Princess Anne Hospital / Maternity care

I was induced with preeclampsia and was involved in the decision process. My labour midwife was brilliant, we had such a good time and she fully empowered me, even when plans had to change for the safety of myself and my daughter. She listened to my wishes and helped me have a brilliant birth. When things went very wrong afterwards the staff were all calm and continued to listen to me and involve me in fast decisions that had to made. I had a night in HDU where I felt very looked after and involved in my care. My birth midwife continued to look after me which was wonderful. The staff ensured my dignity was intact and helped me establish breastfeeding. Up on Burley Ward the staff were helpful and a lady from Breastfeeding Babes came to my bed to give me excellent 1:1 feeding support which has been invaluable.

My only criticism would be that often staff did not say goodbye at the end of their shift before handing over, although they were always good at saying hello at the start of their shift. It felt odd to not have the closure of saying goodbye to someone who has been involved in your care.
