I'm currently expecting a child and have been sent for a couple of extra growth scans during the course of the pregnancy, with 4 visits to the scan department in total. I've never had the same sonographer twice and on every single occasion there has been no introduction from them to tell me their name. I consider this a basic courtesy in order to put you at ease and would have thought it would be automatic. Aside from that, on two of the visits (anomaly scan and last growth scan) the sonographers have also been quite abrupt and unneccessarily negative with their conversation, leaving me feeling anxious and annoyed.
I feel it would be hugely beneficial to have a friendly welcome from the start and if you know the staff members name then it allows you to address them politely during the scan if you have any questions and to also thank them as you are leaving. To not introduce yourself is rude and I feel most people would agree.
