I gave birth to my gorgeous son in April 2017 and really wanted to breastfeed however, nothing prepared me for how difficult it would be. After leaving the hospital (still not confident about feeding) I received a phone call from a woman called Colette from the breastfeeding support team asking how it was going and would I like a visit? Within an hour she was in my house and after chatting for a bit and she observed me feeding the baby she suggested and assisted with a few positional changes and latching advice and within a few minutes, my baby and I were both comfortably breastfeeding. She was so knowledgeable and easy to chat to and made me realise that it was a new skill we both had to work at to master. The help I received was invaluable and I honestly believe I wouldn’t have continued to breastfeed my baby (for 7 1/2 months) if it wasn’t for her help! I was lucky enough to have her assistance again a few months ago when my daughter was born and again her help was second to none. We’re still on our breastfeeding journey and it’s all going fantastic and I credit that to the help I received from this lovely woman and the fantastic support team. Thank you!
