"Maternity care"

About: Hereford County Hospital / Maternity

During a 48 hour period the maternity care was completely inadequate.

I wasn’t given antibiotics for two hours to treat an infection as staff were apparently to busy! When I asked someone to check a concern with my baby around 7-8 staff were sat at the midwife station and joked in a sarcastic tone that they were having cake! I didn’t find the health of my newborn a joke, reluctantly someone came to check (health care assistant who the promptly walked my baby to a midwife in her arms - this was despite an earlier visitor of mine being told not to carry my baby in the corridor and to use a crib)

The wards are stuffy and we were sat in the dark because they couldn’t put lights on as it was to hot and no adequate cooling.

The midwives I’m shift 12/9 and 13/9 evening are horrible, very rude and abrupt personality and a low quality of care from them. They are rude to patients and visitors. It’s definitely not a warm welcoming place to enjoy your new born and to get back to health it’s like hell! You feel like you are imposing on their routine and a nuisance to them which is awkward when you have no choice but to stay here!!!
