"The hospital didn’t treat me & my illness"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital / General medicine West Berkshire Community Hospital

(as the patient),

At the beginning of June I had extreme abdominal pain. It hurt to move and sit still, it got so bad I had to drive myself to the hospital, Basingstoke Hospital. After 7 hours in a&e I was seen to. They mentioned something about appendicitis as my white blood cells (WBC) we’re higher than average. I was told to come back the next day, of which I did.

My WBC had gone back to normal so they ruled out apendicitis, however, there was blood in my urine (no period as of late), which they didn’t think was any cause for concern.
After well over 40 hours, 5 different visits, 6 blood tests and 3 ultra scans they found nothing. It went away by itself after a month.

This pain came back in full force at the end of August. Instead of going back to Basingstoke to be told to wait another 7 hours I went to my local West Berkshire Community Hospital @ Newbury. They took a urine sample, checked it and saw there was blood... My diagnosis? Urine infection! They said I’d had it all along, it went untreated and ignored by Basingstoke hospital.

Basingstoke hospital treated me very, very poorly and I’m afraid that if I get ill again and need to go there that I will be mistreated once again, and I fear for other patients that may have symptoms ignored such as mine.
