I initially presented at 10:20 on a Wednesday evening with heart palpitations following heart surgery two days before. I was seen by the triage nurse within an hour or so, then had a blood test and ecg (which I had to push for) an hour after seeing the triage nurse. I then waited until 5:30 am to see the duty doctor. Having questioned why a patient with heart palpitations was not treated as a priority over other patients (one had a twisted ankle, another with a scuffed leg and another with a cut finger) I was informed that there was no prioritisation in place. Patients were treated in the order they arrived apparently. In the end I had to keep pushing to see the doctor who said everything was ok, just as well really that it did not develop into something more serious over the previous 7 hours . The staff worked hard but are working to completely irresponsible processes. It should also be noted that there was blood on the floor in the room where I was assessed at 12:00 and it was still there at 05:30.
"Poor A&E with complete disregard for prioritising"
