"Royal Bournemouth Hospital be proud!"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Today i visited the hospital who had offered me an early morning ct scan ordered by the foot and ankle team of Mr Taylor because I had sustained an injury several weeks ago. I was in agony and being carer for my husband who suffers dementia it had all become too much and i was very tearful upon arrival in the radiology dept. The first Angel I met was was kindness itself to me. She calmed me and made me feel cared for that i have not felt for a while. I cannot put into words how kind and lovely she was and the staff in the scanner room were also caring and helpful as I am not very mobile. I was in such dreadful pain that after my scan I went along to A&E. Here i was greeted with kindness by the receptionist. Then with kindness and compassion by the treage nurse. Not long after a lovely female doctor called quite aptly, Summer, came to collect me. I was still very upset and my husband emotional and confused. Summer was wonderful. I really can't describe how caring and compassionate and how talented a doctor she is. I felt cared for, I felt safe, and I felt as if I was getting the help and advice I so needed. By the time I left I felt completely different to when I arrived. All the staff in

A&E were lovely. Nurse consultant everyone. I am so thankful to them and always will remember the kindness shown to me. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital has become a great hospital with a culture of kindness and first rate care.

Thank you all for the wonderful care and consideration shown to me and my husband today as well as in Orthopedic outpatients last Monday. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Shortstorywriter

Thank you for your lovely feedback and it certainly sounds like we have a number of Angels working for us and looking out for our patients, and this is very pleasing to hear.

As a carer myself I understand the fear of becoming unwell and not able to care for the person you look after but also how important it is to look after yourself.

I’m sure you are aware of the support available to you but we do try to signpost patients to additional help from our website. The link is https://www.rbch.nhs.uk/index.php?id=1938 or from your search provider type ‘RBCH carers’ and it will take you to our support page.

It was unfortunate that you sustained an ankle injury but so uplifting to hear how various members of the team were able to lift you from a state of despair to a point where you felt safe and cared for in a way you haven’t for a while.

We hope your ankle is now much improved and you feel in a better position to care for your husband.

Your feedback will be sent to the areas you mentioned and shared with the staff.

Regards

Patient Experience Team
