"Haematology communication between other departments"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Clinical haematology Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Neurology (Brain, Spinal and Nerves)

(as the patient),

I come for venesection in the Aberdeen Royal infirmary weekly because of the haemochromatosis (needing to get rid of excess iron in my body). These appointments are excellent.   I see  a Dr. every 6/12 weeks about my progress. There seems to be a constant drip drip of appointments arranged from other departments, connected to my problem. I know I need these extra appointments to solve my condition. The Dr is not telling me about everything, name of procedure and all the details of it, which I would expect them to tell me. Maybe, haematology needs to speak to the other departments more? I've had two extra appointments through my letter box, in the last seven days. Not knowing when these appointments are coming, makes my epilepsy slightly worse, especially when the side effects of the procedure is rather alarming and the haematology specialist never told me about this.

When I see the Haematology specialist, they seems to steam roller me as fast as possible, through all appointments, which leaves me no time to ask any questions. The happiness they shows just as they hand me over to a nurse for further venesection, infuriates me. Its as if they don't care, the problem I have is serious, & their mannerism's, don't seem to reflect that.

The 8/12 venesection appointments  that are arranged every 2/3 months are essential, for my recovery. I wish to go ahead with all these extra appointments, including venesection as I need them to continue. The service within the Aberdeen Royal infirmary has always been excellent and have been looked after well for decades. It some of the attitudes of some people    I have encountered seeing, while there, I wonder about?
